Amboseli National Park
Tortilis Camp
Tortilis is the only luxury tented camp in Amboseli and offers the most exceptional views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. It is named after the flat-topped, umbrella thorn
tree, the Acacia Tortilis, and is situated in one of Amboseli's areas of Acacia Tortilis woodland, with the majestic backdrop of Africa's highest mountain, and the
World's highest free-standing mountain, snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro. Tortilis Camp is built on the side
of Limbarishi Hill, on community land adjoining the National Park and additionally leases 30,000 acres from the local community, creating the “Kitirua Conservancy”.
One of the biggest advantages of Tortilis Camp is that being located on its own private conservation area, clients have the chance to view wildlife in
private surroundings. In addition clients are also offered the chance to enjoy spectacular bush sundowners, night game drives and game walks on the conservancy,
activities that are not available to the lodges located within the park.
The camp provides 16 spacious, makuti-covered tents. Each consists of a main bedroom (with wooden floors), king size or twin beds, permanent en-suite bathroom
(hot running water, stone floors, shower and flush toilet) and a spacious verandah. All tents can fit one extra bed, for children under the age of 16 years only.
There is also a family tent with two large en-suite bedrooms (one with king size, one with twin beds), a spacious private sitting and dining area and verandah.
Both bedrooms can fit one extra bed for children under the age of 16 years only.
The Tortilis Private House consists of 1 en-suite double bedroom, 1 en-suite twin bedroom, and a spacious sitting / dining room with verandah.
The Camp has a main lounge, bar and dining area, all exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs, with magnificent views of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
After game drives you can relax in the swimming pool.
With an invitingly lush and healthy vegetable garden, Tortilis Camp serves fresh homegrown salads and vegetables with every meal. From impressive Bush Breakfast
out in the middle of the plains, to fresh homemade pastas and breads at the camp, the Tortilis chefs excel themselves with every meal.
Tortilis Camp runs on solar inverter batteries and a generator. Generator hours are from 8h to 12h and 18h to 22h. All tents have power 24 hours a day for
lighting. Guest batteries can be charged in the tents and at the bar.
